The Hotel “Schweriner Hof” is centrally located at the New Market and directly opposite the Marien’s church. It is a building full of history, which was constructed after the big fire in 1680. For many years the corner house was used as a distillery and guesthouse. Today the “Schweriner Hof” is fortunate to have a wide range of international guests.

On your expedition through the Old Town which is surrounded by the partly still existing town wall and its gates you will find a variety of valuable and listed treasures.
The German Museum of Oceanography is in direct neighborhood, with its famous exhibition and numerous aquariums. Maunder along the shopping mile to the old market, passed the numerous gabled houses of the “brick Gothic” until you finally reach the beautiful facade of the town hall in front of the Saint Nikolai Church. Enjoy a fantastic view over the harbor with its numerous old buildings – beyond the Strelasund all the way to the island of Rügen.

The same holds true for the popular Ozeaneum. The Ozeaneum is a museum of natural science with focus on marine life and forms part of the Stiftung Deutsches Meeresmuseum. The Ozeaneum is located right at the harbor of Stralsund’s city center. It exhibits approximately 7000 live animals and submerged plants in 39 aquaria with a volume of 6 million liters of water and an exhibition space of 8700 m².
